Romania and the EIB
The EIB has worked with Romania since the early 1990s. We developed many trans-European and national roads and supported climate action and small businesses. Today, Romania is nearly energy independent, producing almost as much gas as it consumes. The country now will export gas to the rest of the EU, with the help of a €100 million EIB loan to support a pipeline crossing Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria.
