Part of the founding fathers of the EU and the EIB, the Netherlands has benefitted from EIB support since the 1960s. Over the years the EIB and its subsidiary, the EIF, have made billions in financing available for improved infrastructure, such as the Rotterdam harbour, as well as for microloans to very small companies. We also support innovative Dutch companies such as the Eindhoven-based med-tech innovator Xeltis, which pioneered a new type of medical device to restore heart valves and blood vessels with the patient’s own tissue.
