The EIB has been active in France since 1959. It has financed the various Airbus sites, high-speed railway lines and now biotechs, offshore wind farms and the thermal renovation of homes, dedicating almost 50% of its €10 billion in investment to the green transition in 2020.
Climate action, infrastructure financing and support for innovation and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are its priorities. It is also helping the public and private sectors to mitigate the impact of the health crisis on the economy.
Thanks to the EIB, Forsee Power now has more resources for the development of electric batteries, the town of Lens was granted financing for a new hospital and Derichebourg received a loan for investing in waste recycling and the circular economy.
The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI)
EFSI is the central pillar of the Investment Plan for Europe. It helps overcome the investment gap, boost jobs and GDP and improve the lives of people across Europe, including France. It finances strategic investments in key areas such as infrastructure, research and innovation, education, renewable energy and energy efficiency as well as providing risk finance to SMEs.
