The EIB has worked with Slovenia since 1977. We helped Slovenia modernise rails and motorways, and refurbish the national electricity network while improving energy efficiency. Slovenia has one of the highest EIB lending levels per capita among countries that joined the EU in 2004. In the Slovenian capital, a EUR 975,000 grant from an EIB programme called ELENA helped the city plan many energy renovations in more than 70 public buildings.
