Lithuania and the EIB

The EIB has worked with Lithuania since 1994. Over the years, we lent our support to modernise Vilnius airport and the port of Klaipeda. The Lithuanian railways, local SMEs and the governments multiappartment building modernisation programme could also count on the EIB for financing or advisory support.

Through co-financing of EU structural funds, the EIB helped to refurbish schools and healthcare facilities, museums, public gardens, cycling paths and streetlights. In recent times, the EIB’s subsidiary, the EIF, has been very active in making available substantial support for businesses hit by COVID-19, allowing them to grow their way out of the crisis.
