    Promoter – Financial Intermediary

    LYRAS DK APS

    Location

    Description

The project consists of financing Lyras' (i) research, development and innovation (RDI) activities related to technology and equipment for non-thermal treatment for the food and beverage industry, and (ii) increasing production capacity to allow commercialisation of their innovative raslysation technology to the early adopters.

    Objectives

The project aims to support adopting more sustainable solutions to pasteurisation and microfiltration. According to the Promoter, treatment through Raslysation based on UV light provides similar or even higher effectiveness than pasteurisation, with energy savings of up to 90% and water savings of up to 80% at comparable volumes.

    Comments

The project is expected to have a considerable effect on the food and beverage industry in substituting the energy intensive pasteurisation with a patented UV application for opaque liquids.

    Environmental aspects

The project relates to investments in research and development and process improvement for assembling industrial equipment that do not require an environmental impact assessment (EIA) under Directive 2011/92/EU as amended by Directive 2014/52/EU. The location of the activities will change during the course of the project and the promoter will provide the Bank with all necessary permits prior to operation in the new premises to be identified. It is anticipated that the project will not have any adverse effects on the climate and environment. Moreover, the activities included in the project are expected to have positive impact on the environmental footprint (reduced energy and water consumption) of the food and beverage industry.
