Description

The main components are a 1,830 km circuit overhead transmission line with fibre optic cable and the extension of 16 existing substations, including reactive compensation equipment.

Objectives

The project aims at integrating the high-voltage power transmission systems of the six participating countries in Central America (Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala), with the objective to form a regional electricity market and to provide mutual support in order to promote the least cost development of power generation in the region.
