    Objectives

    Construction of the Augustow Ring Road, forming in part a section of the "Via Baltica", the Helsinki to Warsaw corridor.

    Improving traffic flows on part of a Trans-European Network in a convergence region.

    Environmental aspects
    Procurement

    The project falls under Annex 1 of Environmental Impact Assessment Directive 2001/92/EU and has been the subject of a full EIA procedure. The project has the potential to impact protected areas (in particular Puszcza Augustowska PLB20002, Ostroja Augustowska PLH20005 and Dolian Gornej Rospudy PLH200022); so the provisions of the Habitats (92/43/EEC) and Birds (2009/147/EC) Directives apply. This is to be further appraised.

    The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been/shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation (2004/18/EC and Dir. 2007/66/EC), with publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where appropriate. The notice for the main works contract (design and build) was issued - 2010/S 99-149504 - with the contract being signed in 2012.

    Comments

    This project will be financed as an allocation under the Poland Road Modernisation II project.
