The 18th edition of the EIB MED Conference on 2 July in Amman brought together leaders and experts in the Mediterranean region to discuss what works and where investors can make an impact and focussed in particular on two of the most vital needs: water and jobs. After setting the scene with an overview of the macroeconomic situation in the Mediterranean region, the discussions focussed on how the Economic Resilience Initiative (ERI) helps to build the capacity of economies to absorb and respond to crises and shocks while maintaining strong growth. The sessions highlighted the product toolbox available under ERI (including loans to SMEs and mid-caps, technical assistance, microfinance, equity and venture debt), but also gave project promoters an opportunity to share their experience of working with EIB in the ERI context.
The EIB and Europe Day 2024
Europe Day commemorates the signing of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950, an ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe that is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union. We at the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group play a key role in the European Union by supporting its policies and promoting sustainable development.
