Summary sheet
- Water, sewerage - Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities
The project consists of an allocation under the Structural Programme Loan (SPL) Romania EU CO-Financing for Environment 2014-20 (2015-0548) aiming to achieve compliance with the EU Drinking Water and Urban Wastewater Treatment Directives in the County of Alba.
The project is focused on fulfilling the compliance requirements for water and wastewater (Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive 91/271/EEC and the Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC), of agglomerations with more than 2 000 PE (Population Equivalent) for wastewater collection and treatment, and localities with more than 50 inhabitants for water supply. In this respect, the proposed investments envisage extending the service coverage for drinking water supply and wastewater collection and treatment, as well as addressing the deficiencies of the existing systems.
All the project components were screened according to the Annex II of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive. None of the components required an EIA.
The Bank will require the promoter (Regional Operating Company) to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project are tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation (Directive 2014/25/EU, as well as Directives 92/13/EEC and 89/665/EEC) as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union, with the publication of tender notices in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), as and where required.
