Objectives

Upgrading of the drinking water supply and sewage treatment systems of the Nantes conurbation.

The key components of the project are, for the sanitation part, the adaptation of wastewater treatment plants and the construction of large collectors to protect watercourses and, for the drinking water part, the construction of an emergency water intake on the Erdre and extension and upgrading of the network.

The project forms part of the integrated programme for improving the environment of the Nantes conurbation and focuses in particular on:

  • safeguarding the drinking water supply;
  • reducing the discharge of pollutants into the Erdre, a sensitive watercourse;
  • adapting the sewage system to the constraints of urban development and the regulations;
  • protecting and restoring the conurbation's greenways (streams);
  • extending and upgrading the drinking water distributions.
