The EIB Group invests in Europe’s peace and security, and supports the Strategic European Security Initiative. We offer a comprehensive range of advisory services that enhance all stages of the project cycle in this area. Through our space and quantum Finance Labs, we support cutting-edge technologies that have dual uses in the civil and defence sectors.

We help European businesses and innovators find financing for projects that protect people. Projects that keep Europe safe and innovative include reconnaissance and surveillance, spectrum protection and control, cybersecurity, and military infrastructure.
Our services include financial advice for deep tech, and space and quantum companies. We review companies’ investor material, business plans, financial models, growth strategies and marketing presentations.
How to find funding
New space, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies often have dual uses that help the defence and private sectors. Such technologies might change how societies function or they might also enhance military technology. Companies active in these sectors need more support and financing. EIB Advisory organised two finance labs for the space and quantum sectors to explore links to security and defence projects. The labs provide a meeting point for companies to connect to European Union institutions, public and private investors, consumers, suppliers and other parties to improve the investment climate.
Space finance lab
The space finance lab brought together key European government institutions in the space sector, including the European Space Agency, the EU Agency for the Space Programme, the German Aerospace Centre and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space. The lab focused on the funding programmes available in Europe and the investments needed to support autonomy in the space sector.
