Agriculture and bioeconomy

The agriculture and bioeconomy sector contributes heavily to economic growth in rural and coastal regions. We support the use of European Union shared management financial instruments to help agricultural businesses become more resilient and thrive. Our advisory support is key to develop new EIB Group intermediated lending schemes targeting agriculture. We conduct market assessments to investigate hurdles and funding gaps in the bioeconomy sector. This work helps shape the direction of future policies inside and outside the European Union. We work with international partners such as the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization to improve food security and the agrifood value chain in sub-Saharan Africa.
