The European Investment Bank is bringing together Czech and foreign business leaders, stakeholders from politics, banking sector and research to discuss changing markets for foreign direct investment at an EIB conference in Prague. The event enables participants and constituents to discuss key issues and trends of European concern sharing first-hand information and insights.

The conference on Changing Markets for FDI - Research, Development and Innovation in the Czech Republic on 10 June 2004 will assess investment needs and opportunities in industry and in Research and Development that will contribute to the competitiveness of the new EU member states both within in the EU and in the global market.

Informal sessions will also allow participants to exchange information and generate ideas, opinions and initiatives about Europe's new member countries' needs and perspectives with a special focus on the R&D sector in the Czech Republic.

The conference will be honored with the participation of Zdenek Hrubý, Deputy Minister of Finance, Miroslav Janecek, Deputy Chairman of the Research and Development Council, Martin Jahn, Chief Executive Officer, CzechInvest. Further speakers representing the banking and business community include Patrick Daems, Board Member of CSOB, Pavel Kafka, Country Manager for Siemens and Jean-Christophe de Munain, Director of International Affairs, Alcatel, France.
