Donor partnerships enable us to tackle global challenges together and make a lasting difference in developing countries. Partnerships help bridge financing gaps and ensure that projects with insufficient investment receive additional support. Together we can unlock projects with high socio-economic returns, reaching out to people and places most in need of assistance.
Sustained partnerships between international donors and the EIB are improving people’s lives, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and advancing the international development objectives of the European Union. As this inaugural EIB Donors in Action book illustrates, the contributions of our donors make a big difference, enabling the EIB to do more in challenging environments around the globe.
Donor partners play an important role in advancing EU development impact around the world. At a time when financial resources are stretched, donor contributions go a long way to ensuring continued progress in beneficiary countries. The European Commission and 23 EU Member States finance one or more EIB trust funds.
Trust funds are a key pillar of the EIB’s activities outside of the EU. They enable our partners to pool their resources and leverage the Bank’s financial expertise to respond to global challenges. The EIB operates six different trust funds, providing assistance across a range of sectors in over 75 different countries.
