Objectives

The project concerns the construction of two new high security data centres located near Magdeburg, in the east of Germany.

The data centres will provide 27.206 square metres of gross floor area and 19.595 square metres of usable space including auxiliary technical equipment to operate IT equipment like servers and databases. The data centres will be designed and optimised for the provision of Cloud based applications.

Procurement

The construction of data centres do not fall under Annex I of the Directive 2011/92/EU, however it might be considered as an Annex II project like an industrial estate development by the local competent authorities. The full details including the screening decision of the competent authority and the relevance for a carbon footprint assessment will be verified during the appraisal.

The promoter is a private company not operating in the Utilities sector, and is thus not covered by EU Directives on procurement.
