Description
Objectives

Public and private hospitals investment programme in Belgium.

The programme is intended to renew, improve and increase existing capacity in the three regions of Brussels-Capital, Wallonia and Flanders.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

Given that hospitals are not specifically mentioned in the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive, the project is covered by Annex II to the Urban Development Directive. The programme includes the restoration of existing hospitals, for which environmental impact assessments are not required. During the project appraisal period, the EIB will examine the environmental impact of the programme and whether an environmental impact assessment is required for specific projects.

The promoter is bound by Community directives on procurement procedures. The EIB will therefore examine this point in the course of the appraisal.
