The investment for the environmental upgrade and modernisation of the Raahe plant buildings and technical infrastructure falls under Annex II (Production and processing of metals) of the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC. However, the Competent Authority has decided that no EIA is required on the basis of the criteria set in Annex III of the Directive, as the works are located inside an existing industrial site, already authorised.
As a privately owned, industrial company, Rautaruukki’s investment decisions are not bound by the EU procurement Directives.
