Description
Objectives

The project concerns construction and operation of a new 350 kt p.a. production line for containerboard, located in the Promoter's existing paper mill in Dunaújváros, Hungary.

The project contributes to competitiveness and sustainability of local industry in the Central Transdanubia region, an EU convergence area. The project supports waste reduction by reducing the amount of paper destined to landfills and encourages further improvements in the paper collection systems in Hungary.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project falls under Annex I of the EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC, and therefore an EIA is mandatory. Full environmental details will be assessed during the appraisal, including possible impacts on protected flora and fauna (Habitats’ 92/43/EEC and Birds’ 79/409/EEC Directives).

The promoter is a private company that is not operating in the Utilities sector, and is thus not covered by EU Directives on procurement.
