Objectives

Construction of a new natural gas fired combined cycle power plant (370MW - 420 MW) at Aliveri.

The new plant will replace the existing fuel-oil and lignite fired capacity, reducing thereby pollution, notably CO2 emissions, in relation to the existing plants that will be replaced. It will contribute to cover the demand for electricity in Greece by ensuring that the withdrawn capacity is replaced by the new capacity.

The project falls under Annex I of EU Directive 97/11/EC, amending 85/337/EEC, which requires a formal Environmental Impact Assessment.

The project falls under EU procurement Directive 2004/17/EC.
