Europe Day is celebrated every May 9 to remember the promise that the European Union holds for peace and prosperity. This year, the continent is heavily affected by the pandemic and Europe has been at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.

The European Investment Bank, the EU bank, has been helping people around the world respond to the crisis by financing developers of vaccines, therapies and tests, as well as providing support for small businesses.

As part of Team Europe, the EIB is providing more than €400 million to the COVAX initiative to make sure that vaccines will be delivered to low and middle-income countries around the world.

We’re also tackling global challenges like climate change and helping developing countries find innovative solutions to promote sustainable growth, human rights, reduce poverty and inequality, and improve lives.
