Description
Objectives

Loan provided to Intesa Sanpaolo to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and mid-caps, with a Climate Action & Environmental Sustainability contribution of at least 25%.

Bilateral loan facility (MBIL) provided to Intesa Sanpaolo supporting SMEs and mid-caps. Specific Climate Action related eligibility criteria (based on the project nature) will apply to at least 25% of the allocations.

Additionality and Impact

The operation will provide funding to the promoter, Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP), with the aim of generating additional lending to Italian SMEs and MidCaps (30%), which is still at suboptimal levels.

The operation foresees that at least 25% of the loans will be dedicated to Climate Action projects, mainly supporting the MidCap segment in implementing larger energy efficiency and renewable energy investments.

Thanks to EIB's intervention, Intesa Sanpaolo will increase its activity in climate action financing, and the SMEs and MidCaps that obtain the financing will also benefit from a discount with respect to the ordinary rates that the intermediary would normally apply.
