Objectives

Capital investment programme dedicated to the development and refurbishment of the University of Strathclyde’s campus in Glasgow.

The proposed project is designed to assist the university, and by extension the United Kingdom, in improving its readiness to contribute to the common European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area by strengthening the teaching and research capabilities of the University of Strathclyde.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

Universities are not specifically mentioned in the EIA Directive on Environmental Impact Assessment, though the project is covered by Annex II of the Directive in relation to urban development. The Bank’s services will verify the EIA screening decision of the Competent Authority during appraisal.

The Bank requires the promoter to ensure that all relevant contracts for the implementation of the project have been tendered, or will be tendered, in accordance with the relevant EU procurement legislation.
