Summary sheet
Territorio Histórico de Guipuzcoa
Modernisation of the regional solid waste management system including the construction of waste management facilities for recycling, composting and for waste-to-energy.
Overall, the project aims at minimising the negative effects of the generation and management of the region’s waste on human health and on the environment. In addition, it aims to reduce the use of resources and favour the practical application of the revised Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC.
The Project is expected to improve the waste management situation in the region of Gipuzkoa by meeting the targets set out in the revised Waste Framework Directive, the EU Landfill Directive and Packaging (1994/62/EC) directives which impose mandatory levels of recycling of organics.
The Bank will require from the promoter that contracts for the implementation of the project have been or shall be tendered in accordance with relevant applicable EU procurement laws (Dir 93/38, 2004/17/EEC), with publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where appropriate.
