On 28 September 2016, Mr Mateusz MORAWIECKI was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Finance. He also becomes Chairman of the Board of Governors, succeeding Mr SZAŁAMACHA.
Prior to his appointment, Mr MORAWIECKI was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development.
In 1998, he served as Deputy Director of the Accession Negotiations Department in the Committee for European Integration. He was a member of the group which negotiated the conditions of Polish accession to the European Union.
Previously, Mr MORAWIECKI held several positions in the Bank Zachodni WBK Group including the post of President of the Management Board.
Mr MORAWIECKI graduated from the Faculty of History at the University of Wroclaw, Business Administration studies at the Wroclaw University of Technology and from the Central Connecticut State University. He holds an MBA title from the Wroclaw University of Economy. He is also a graduate of the University of Hamburg, University of Basel and the Kellogg School of management at the Northwestern University in Evanston, United States.
From 1998 to 2001, he was a member of the supervisory boards of the Industrial Development Agency and the Electricity Board in Wroclaw. He was also a councillor of the Lower Silesia Regional Assembly.
