Jürgen Ligi, new Governor for Estonia

Mr Jürgen Ligi has been appointed Minister of Finance of the Republic of Estonia, succeeding Mr Ivari Padar, and also becomes EIB Governor for the Republic of Estonia.
Born on 16 July 1959, Mr Jürgen LIGI obtained an MBA at the Estonian Business School and graduated in International Economy and Geography at Tartu University.
Before becoming Minister of Finance, Mr Jürgen Ligi worked as Head of Branch at the Chamber of Trade and Commerce, as business consultant, as economic adviser at the Kaarma Municipality and as Head of Branch at EVEA Bank. Mr Jürgen Ligi became Member of Parliament in 1995 and was Minister of Defence from 2005 to 2007.
