On 9 December, we celebrate the International Anti-Corruption Day and the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
To mark this special event, the Heads of Integrity Offices of the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) joined forces to deliver a strong message against corruption, reasserting their commitment to integrity and accountability. In times of global challenges, the role of the MDBs, including the EIB, as the biggest multilateral financial institution, is to provide the much-needed support to countries, economies and institutions worldwide. However, we all have a role to play in ensuring that these resources reach their intended beneficiaries and are not diverted by corruption.
Tackling fraud and corruption is the right and responsibility of everyone. Only through the cooperation and involvement of everyone can we overcome their negative impact on economic, social and human development. States, government officials, civil servants, law enforcement officers, media representatives, the private sector, civil society, academia, and the public all have a role to play in this.
Please join the call of the Heads of Integrity Offices of the MDBs and stand with us against corruption!
