Following the recent general elections and the constitution of a new government in the Czech Republic, Mr Andrej Babiš was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance on 29 January 2014. He also becomes EIB Governor for the Czech Republic, succeeding Mr Jan Fischer.
Since August 2012, Mr Babiš has been Chairman of the political movement he had launched in 2011, ANO 2011.
In January 1993, he co-founded the company Agrofert, which is currently the largest private employer in the Czech Republic. Mr Babiš was the Chairman and CEO of this company until 2014.
From 1985 to 1991, he worked in Morocco as representative of the Slovak company Petrimex and returned to Prague in 1991 to become Director of the Company’s Business Group.
Mr Babiš graduated from the Business Faculty at Bratislava University of Economics.
Mr Babiš was born in 1954 in Bratislava.
