Mr Anders Borg took office as Sweden's Minister for Finance on 6 October 2006, replacing Mr Pär Nuder, and thereby also becomes EIB Governor for Sweden.
Before becoming Minister of Finance, Mr Borg was Chief Economist and Administrative Director of the Moderate Party in Sweden.
From 2001 to 2002 he was Adviser on monetary policy issues to the Executive Board of the Riksbank (the Swedish central bank). Previous posts include Head of the Economic Analysis Department at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), Chief Economicst at ABN Amro in Stockholm, economic and political analyst at Transferator Alfred Berg and political advisor at the Prime Minister's Office.
Mr Borg, 38 years of age, graduated in political science, economic history and philosophy from Uppsala University and also undertook postgraduate studies in economics at Stockholm University.
