Description

L'Unione europea deve consolidare la propria posizione di leader mondiale nei settori della tecnologia, dell'innovazione e dell'energia pulita. Affrontando le sfide fondamentali e sfruttando gli attuali punti di forza, l'Europa potrà rafforzare la propria competitività, promuovere la crescita economica e mostrare al resto del mondo come passare con successo all'energia verde. In breve, l'Europa deve agire sui tre fronti di seguito elencati.

  • Migliore integrazione del mercato unico dell'UE e semplificazione dell'accesso. La frammentazione causata da differenze normative e strutturali impedisce alla imprese di sfruttare appieno il più ampio mercato europeo, soprattutto quando si tratta di realtà innovative: il 74% di queste ultime cita infatti le incoerenze normative tra gli ostacoli all'espansione della propria attività. La semplificazione della conformità normativa potrebbe ridurre i costi, che invece attualmente rappresentano circa l'1,8% del fatturato delle imprese (2,5% per le PMI).
  • Mobilitazione di investimenti per le giovani imprese innovative e la trasformazione digitale in senso lato. L'Europa ha una forte base di ricerca e capacità industriale, ma per le imprese innovative spesso è difficile reperire i fondi necessari per l'espansione della propria attività. Le imprese europee accusano inoltre un ritardo nell'integrazione dell'analisi dei big data e dell'intelligenza artificiale nella produzione e nei servizi; la quota di imprese dell'UE che fanno ricorso a tali risorse è infatti inferiore a quella degli Stati Uniti di 6 punti percentuali. Un maggiore utilizzo di queste tecnologie comporterebbe cospicui incrementi di produttività per le imprese europee.
  • Progressi nella transizione verde. L'Europa deve abbinare i propri ambiziosi obiettivi climatici a una tabella di marcia realistica e pragmatica che aiuti le imprese a cogliere le opportunità offerte dalla transizione verde. La rivoluzione energetica è ormai in atto. Nel 2024 quasi la metà (48%) della domanda di elettricità dell'Europa è stata soddisfatta mediante fonti rinnovabili e le emissioni generate dalla produzione di energia sono diminuite del 13% nel corso dell'anno. La leadership climatica dell'Europa sta dando i suoi frutti anche dal punto di vista economico, in quanto le imprese dell'UE traggono profitto dall'aumento delle esportazioni di tecnologie a basse emissioni di carbonio. Da questo punto di vista si registra infatti un +65% dal 2017, contro il +79% della Cina e soltanto il +22% degli Stati Uniti.

Per poter sfruttare i propri punti di forza in un'ottica di crescita sostenibile, leadership tecnologica e resilienza economica in un contesto globale sempre più competitivo, l'Europa deve promuovere la collaborazione, puntare sugli investimenti e mantenere la coerenza del quadro normativo.
