EIB Vice-President Román Escolano and Galicia’s Finance Minister, Elena Muñoz Fonteriz, signed today in Santiago de Compostela a EUR 400 million EIB loan to the Government of Galicia.
The funds will be used to cofinance investments under the ERDF operational programme and the EAFRD rural development programme in the period 2014-2020. The loan will also finance other investments by the Galicia Region with the same strategic goals. The investment priorities have been identified in line with Galicia’s smart specialisation strategy and focus on research and development and innovation in the areas of health, information technology, natural resource exploitation, fire prevention and basic rural infrastructure.
