Marta teaches children in the Ukhira school in Bolivia, but conditions were not always easy in the region: there were hardly any water and no electricity at home for the children.
Fortunately things are changing for the better. In 2018, Ukhira had rainwater harvesting system installed and solar panels were installed in 2022 to provide electricity. Today, Marta and the children can simply have fresh water from the tap and use the accessible electricity.
Thanks to the Harvesting Water Sowing Light project backed by the European Investment Bank, over 1,500 households, schools and health posts have now clean energy and drinking water in the region.
