The EIB is once again an active participant in this year’s EU Sustainable Energy Week 2012 held from 18th to 22nd of June. This major annual event focusses on renewable energy and energy efficiency, bringing together public and private sector players from across Europe and especially Brussels. There will be more than 100 events taking place in Brussels with a further 600 Energy Days and conferences taking place in all 27 EU Member States. It is expected that around 150 000 will participate Europe wide.
EIB President Werner Hoyer is a keynote speaker at the high-level opening session on 19 June in Brussels. European Commissioner for Energy, Guenther Oettinger will also be there as will other important personalities. On the same day Christopher Knowles, Head of Division Climate Change & Environment, participates in the session “How are the financing opportunities for sustainable energy seen by the stakeholders?”, part of the debate on the next Multiannual Financial Framework.
An EIB-organised side-event discusses current challenges and solutions in terms of financing instruments, policy frameworks as well as possible ways to further promote sustainable energy in the next Multiannual Financial Framework. The “Financing sustainable energy: instruments, challenges and perspectives” event will gather together a range of promoters, local authorities, intermediary banks, industry associations and policy makers on 21 June in Brussels.
