FORMEC is the largest scientific forest engineering network, which gathers annually 200-250 leading researchers, practitioners and high-level experts from around the world. The theme of the FORMEC conference this year is: “Innovating the Competitive Edge: From Research to Impact in the Forest Value Chain”.
The event will address critical issues related to innovation-driven sustainable wood production, the competitiveness of the forest value chain, including renewable energy (biomass to bioenergy), energy efficiency and the environmental footprint of forest-sector operations. These topics are in line with the European Investment Bank’s climate action and forestry activities.
The event consists of a two-day technical conference on new developments in forest engineering and the wood supply chain, followed by one-day field trip to the FOREST ROMANIA machinery exhibition, showcasing traditional and innovative technology at work.
In addition to sponsoring the event, the EIB will take part in various sessions to discuss how to achieve the full commercial and environmental potential of forest resources, and explain the EU bank’s role in strengthening the competitiveness of the forest value chain.
