The sixth edition of the Convergences World Forum is taking place in Paris from 17 to 19 September this year. Taking as its major topic the Millennium Development Goals and the post-2015 development framework, the forum will bring together over 300 participants in 50 different conferences, discussions and interactive and dynamic events, spread across three days.

There are three main themes on the agenda:

  • The main stakes of inclusive andsustainable development
  • The practices of public, private, and solidarity actors
  • The tools supporting practices

The EIB Group is a partner of the Convergences World Forum, and we will be represented first by Eugene Howard, Economic Advisor for Energy Efficiency and Renewables. He is taking part in a round table entitled “Clean and sustainable energy for all: what challenges and opportunities for 2030”. This is taking place on Tuesday 17 September at 2.30pm.

The next day, Wednesday 18 September, Marc Schublin, Director of Strategy and Stakeholder Relations at the European Investment Fund (EIF), is participating in a conference exploring the perception of risk, and the impact this can have on socially responsible entities.

The Bank will be further represented by Henry Marty-Gauquié, Director of the EIB Group’s Paris Office, who will be part of the jury chosen to select the winner of the Convergence European Award. This is one of two prizes to be handed out at the ceremony taking place on Thursday 19 September, the closing day of the forum.

The prize rewards the best and most innovative sustainable public-private partnership involved in the fight against poverty in one or more of the EU Member States. The other prize is an international, non-EU equivalent.

The winners of both the European and International prizes will be picked by the jury from some 40 eligible candidates.

Convergences was launched in 2008, as a platform for thought in Europe, with a particular focus on bringing together public, private and socially responsible organisations and entities to promote the Millennium Development Goals.
