The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the EIB Institute are sponsoring the 18th Microfinance Centre Conference: “Employment, Youth and Investment: What can microfinance do?”.

During the two day-long conference, microfinance practitioners will share experiences and debate the role of microfinance in financing start-ups and social entrepreneurs as well as in community development. Other subjects including innovative ways to support youth, new trends in offering housing products and dealing with currency risks will also be discussed. The EIB aims to develop microfinance activities in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. This event will offer excellent networking opportunities and help to identify both short-term and medium-term potential new partners for the EIB.

The EIB is particularly active in microfinance outside the EU, across the sub-Saharan African, Caribbean and Pacific regions as well as in the Mediterranean partner countries. Recently, the Bank has begun microfinance activities within the EU, notably in Spain.

The EIB Institute complements the actions of the European Investment Bank in the area of microfinance through its Knowledge and Social Programmes.
