On Wednesday, President Hoyer welcomed some 40 Brussels correspondents to the EIB headquarters in Luxembourg. The press trip was a joint initiative by the EU Institutions based in Luxembourg. It is the first time that these institutions have issued a joint invitation to journalists. The journalists spent two days visiting the EIB Group, the European Court of Justice (ECJ), the European Court of Auditors (ECA), the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) for presentations and Q&A sessions to increase their knowledge of the role, activities and added value of these EU institutions and organisations.
During his speech to the journalists, President Hoyer stated: “The EIB Group provides a very effective response addressing existing investment needs and constraints, in particular for SMEs”. He also underlined that “the EIB Group will continue to deliver on its promise to the Member States to make a difference with the capital increase”.
The journalists were invited to an informal get-together at the EIB in the evening.
