From tomorrow, the 28th of June, the EIB applies the Aarhus Regulation on public access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters. The Regulation allows the application of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention to EU institutions and bodies.
To ease public access to environmental information held by the Bank, a special section on environmental information has been posted on the EIB website.
The EIB Public Disclosure Policy, which governs and promotes public access to information, is currently under review to take account of the relevant provisions of the Aarhus Regulation. Where the provisions of the Disclosure Policy and those of the Aarhus Regulation diverge in the environmental field, the Regulation applies. A revised Public Disclosure Policy will be in place before the summer break.
