On a proposal from the President approved by the Board of Directors, Mr Angelos Pangratis has been appointed Expert Member of the Board of Directors to succeed Mr Hugues Mingarelli who had tendered his resignation.
Mr Pangratis is currently Advisor “Hors Classe” in charge of the European Economic Diplomacy in the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels Headquarters.
From January 2011 to August 2015, he was Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of the European Union to the World Trade Organisation. Mr PANGRATIS also held the position of Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Geneva from January to May 2011.
Previously, Mr Pangratis served as Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to the USA from August 2005 and was Acting Head and Chargé d’Affaires from October 2009 to July 2010.
From February 2003 to August 2005, he was Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Argentina.
From 1995 to 1997, Mr Pangratis was Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in South Africa and from 1990 to 1994 Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Korea.
From 1998 to 2003, he served as Head of Unit responsible for relations with China and from 1997 to 1998, as Head of Unit for Personnel and Budget of the Directorate General for External Relations and Trade Policy.
Between 1987 and 1990, Mr Pangratis was Head of Investigation Teams of the Anti-Dumping Division and he served in the Export Credits and Export Promotion Division from 1981 and 1986.
Mr Pangratis holds a Doctorate in International Economics, Monetary Policies and Finance from the University of Paris I, Pantheon-Sorbonne.
The term of office of Mr Pangratis will expire in 2018 at the end of the day either of the Annual Meeting or of the approval of the financial statements for the previous financial year, whichever is the later.
