Promoter – Financial Intermediary

The North Staffordshire Hospital NHS Trust and the North Stoke Primary Care NHS Trust, Stoke-on-Trent

Location

Description

The purpose of the project is to deliver a new single site acute general hospital in Stoke-on-Trent (centre) and involves the re-provision and building of new facilities on further existing hospital sites in the north of the city (Haywood). Once the new facilities are completed, the private sector will be responsible for maintaining the buildings and providing other, non-clinical, services (e.g. grounds, parking and garden maintenance) to the Trusts for a 30 year period.

Objectives

The North Staffordshire Hospital NHS Trust currently provides general acute services split across 3 sites, some in buildings more than 100 years old and no longer suitable for modern health care; these will be closed as appropriate following completion of the new facility. The North Stoke Development for the North Stoke Primary Care NHS Trust will see 2 co-located hospital facilities (Haywood and Stanfield) which are in north Stoke-on-Trent combined into one. The Project should ensure that the Trusts are in a position to take advantage of modern clinical practice, models of care and technology, as well as is expected to have important effects to the regeneration of the local economy, which forms part of an objective 2 area.

All environmental mitigating measures required by the planning authorities are to be included in the project but no particular environmental impact is foreseen.
