Palestine and the EIB

The EIB Group supports private sector development in Palestine by improving access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized corporates through credit lines and risk-sharing instruments. Working with the European Union, the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA) and local financial institutions, we help businesses invest, preserve jobs and strengthen economic resilience. Through the Economic Resilience Initiative and the Risk Capital Facility, we also support entrepreneurs and microfinance institutions, expanding access to finance for small businesses and micro-enterprises. This support includes a €400 million financing facility for Palestinian businesses, implemented through local financial institutions and complemented by technical assistance.

We support healthcare services in Palestine in cooperation with international partners such as the World Health Organization. Our activities help strengthen healthcare systems, improve access to essential services and support humanitarian assistance for vulnerable communities. This includes work to strengthen primary healthcare services and improve oncology care through strategic planning and investment support.

We promote climate action and essential infrastructure that improve public services and living conditions in Palestine. Our work focuses on water and energy systems, as well as electricity and wastewater networks, helping strengthen resilience, improve resource efficiency and enhance environmental sustainability. This includes renewable energy generation on school rooftops, upgrades to electricity infrastructure and investments in wastewater treatment and collection networks that improve environmental outcomes and public services.
