    Description
    Objectives

The Facility will support micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises and mid-caps in Armenia, through credit lines to local banks. Such banks will channel the funds to local enterprises, ultimately promoting inclusive growth, sustaining employment and reinforcing long-term economic resilience.

The operation aims to finance eligible projects carried out by the final beneficiaries in Armenia, ultimately contributing to the country's private sector development.

    Additionality and Impact

Armenia MSME Resilience Facility (LE) II aims to finance eligible small and medium sized investments undertaken by micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and Mid-Caps in Armenia, thereby contributing to economic resilience and employment generating activities. MSMEs make up the vast majority of firms in Armenia and, as such, play a vital role in creating and safeguarding employment. Lack of access to long-term finance has been identified as one of the most significant obstacles to the expansion of MSMEs, and the proposed operation is expected to address this issue through providing long-term funding.

This operation strategically aligns with EU priorities under the European Neighbourhood Policy, and the Eastern Partnership beyond 2020, advancing goals such as inclusive economic growth and improved access to finance for MSMEs. It is expected to advance several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
