Description
The project involves the construction of a 400 kV high-voltage transmission line spanning approximately 540 kilometres, connecting Abidjan (Anyama) to the East and North of Côte d'Ivoire. The new line will reinforce the regional interconnections to Burkina Faso and Mali. Additionally, the project will include a rural electrification scheme along the line.
Objectives
The aim is to contribute to a reliable, efficient, and climate-friendly energy supply in the eastern regions of Côte d'Ivoire. The project will also contribute to a more reliable and efficient Ivorian interconnected grid and energy exchange in the West African Power Pool (WAPP) as well as to the integration of renewable energies into the interconnected grid. This operation is in line with the country's new generation-transmission masterplan, contributing to the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to reduce carbon emissions by 30% and to achieve a 45% share of renewable energies in its energy mix until 2030.
