Description
The project consists of the upgrade of the passenger security screening equipment and baggage handling system (BHS) at Schiphol Amsterdam airport. Works consist of: i) the implementation of last generation body and hand luggage screening equipment, ii) the phasing out of the existing D-pier baggage hall, and iii) replacing it with the "South BHS" baggage basement, which will be a state-of-the-art fully automated and robotised baggage handling system. It will ensure operational resilience by providing the necessary redundancy to overhaul, upgrade and further automate the airport's passenger screening and hold baggage handling system. The new equipment will improve passenger comfort, increase level of service, operational reliability and working conditions through full automation of the baggage handling process.
Objectives
The project upgrades and further automates the airport's operational capacity, and improves operational reliability and working conditions. Furthermore, it applies the highest standards for security and screening and thus contributes to safety.
