    Description

    The project concerns the construction and operation of two high pressure natural gas pipeline connections over a total length of 105 km in the region of Styria, Austria.

    Objectives

    The financing of this project will contribute to the Bank's lending priority policy concerning the security and diversification of energy supplies.

    Environmental aspects

    According to the screening by Austrian authorities, the Project falls under Annex II of the EIA Directive. The Bank will further review environmental procedures during appraisal, including mitigation/compensation measures and any effects on nature conservation sites (Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC and Natura 2000).

    Procurement

    The promoter has confirmed to tender works, supplies and services contracts following procurement rules of relevant national and EU legislation, as defined by procurement Directive 2004/17/EC, including the publication in Official Journal of EC where appropriate. Detailed procedures applied by the promoter will be reviewed during the appraisal.
