Description

Rehabilitation of some 100 bridges in Serbia and interventions in the backlog maintenance on the main and regional roads and tunnels in Montenegro.

Objectives

Through the proposed loan the Bank would provide continued support to the transport sector and contribute to the rehabilitation of the county’s road network with the objective to facilitate trade, industry and tourism development.

Proposed EIB finance (Approximate amount)

Up to EUR 50 million, of which up to EUR 23 million for Serbian component and up to EUR 27 million for Montenegrin component.

Total cost (Approximate amount)

Up to EUR 100 million.

Environmental aspects

In view of the nature of the operation the environmental impacts are anticipated to be minor. The road rehabilitation and upgrading works are not expected to generate any adverse impact on the environment. The Bank will ensure that components to be supported do not affect any sensitive areas, or have any other significant impact, and that appropriate mitigation measures are implemented wherever necessary.

Procurement

Procurement procedures will be on the basis of international competitive bidding with tender publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, in line with the Bank’s guidelines.
