    Description
    Objectives

    The project will finance: (i) RDI activities to ensure consistent production and market availability of an ingredient rich in protein and fibre for several potential markets; (ii) the scale-up of the production facility for this ingredient to 2,500 tonnes per annum in Breda, the Netherlands, to demonstrate the feasibility of industrial-scale production and cost control; (iii) the planning of the company's future production expansion.

    In line with Annex I A and Article 8(2) of the InvestEU Agreement, the operation falls under the Thematic Product as it concerns the scale-up of the promoter's demonstration plant, complemented by limited additional production capacity and targeted RDI, regulatory and market entry activities to establish the product and demonstrate cost reductions. The operation falls under the Green Transition policy area, specifically Bioeconomy – sustainable food systems and value chains, as defined under heading 1.5 of Schedule A.2.1 of the EIB InvestEU Guarantee Agreement (fifth amendment).

    Environmental aspects
    Procurement

    Compliance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) directive 2014/52/EU amending the EIA Directive 2011/92/EU) will be assessed during appraisal, as well as well compliance with and other applicable environmental acquis.

    The promoter has been assessed by the EIB as being a private company not being subject to EU rules on public procurement or concessions. Final beneficiaries will be requested to comply with applicable national and EU legislation, as appropriate.
