- Water, sewerage - Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities
Investment programme covering nine coastal towns, comprising construction of sanitation infrastructure, institutional & capacity development and project management support to the National Directorate of Water and the provincial water and sanitation utilities.
The development objective of the project is to improve access to climate-resilient and sustainable sanitation services in nine coastal towns of Angola. The project is expected to contribute to the improvement of the health and socioeconomic situation of the population living in the targeted towns. The project's operation is part of the effort of the Government of Angola to improve the water and sanitation service delivery in the country as enunciated in the National Development Programme and Sector Investment Plan.
Preliminary environmental and Social Assessments have been carried out as part of the preparatory activities for the investments requiring such analysis; during final stage of project preparation, the environmental and social impact assessments will be updated if necessary and a Resettlement Action Plan will be carried out if needed. The project shall have positive environmental and public health impacts and will allow the population to improve its access to sanitation. The Bank will verify the environmental and social aspects and impacts of the project components, as well as proposed mitigation and compensation measures, in accordance with the EIB's Environmental and Social standards.
The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that implementation of the project will be done in accordance with the Bank's Guide to Procurement.
