The project is a multi component investment programme aimed at reinforcing and extending the electricity transmission infrastructure of Italy. It consists of twenty components geographically dispersed throughout Italy.
The main purpose of the project is to promote the development of the electricity transmission network of Italy, support the integration of renewable generation resources, reduce congestion and improve security of supply through the creation of internal transmission capacity, rationalisation and better operation of the existing network.
Three project components, out of the planned twenty, require Environmental Impact Assessment. The impacts that can be typically expected for them are visual impact, electromagnetic fields, disturbance during construction and impact on flying vertebrates. Experience with previous operations has proven the environmental capability of the promoter.
The promoter follows public procurement procedures in accordance with the Directive 2004/17/EC and with the Italian Public Procurement Act (Dlgs. 163/06).

Complaints mechanism
Any complaint regarding alleged maladministration can be lodged via the EIB Complaints Mechanism. The European Ombudsman acts as an independent external accountability mechanism of the EIB.
Zero tolerance against fraud and corruption

All complaints will be treated as strictly confidential and handled in line with the EIB investigation procedures and the Anti-Fraud Policy.
