Description
Objectives

The project concerns a part of the reconfiguration of the logistics network of La Poste with the focus on the introduction of modern, automated letter-sorting facilities. This includes the installation of four new centres and the modernisation of the existing centre in Brussels.

The Belgian Post is in need of significant capital investments compared with other European operators. An improvement of services is considered indispensable for the organisation to ensure adequate service standards. A significant part of the investment will affect assisted areas and significantly contribute towards a more dynamic and internationally linked communication environment in the surrounding regions, thus supporting the EU cohesion objectives.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

La Poste has embarked onto an environmental development programme, which includes specific efforts in energy saving, waste reduction and the establishment of an environmental mangement system, which is supposed to allow the certification of the operations of La Poste under ISO 14000 in about three years time.

The promoter has followed an international public tendering procedure.
